The anticipation is rising as world-popular singer Taylor Swift is set to release her 10th album, Midnights.
Swift’s first album with new songs in more than two years, due for release at midnight on Friday, within the Eastern US The album is expected to be Swift’s return to the pop scene following the more contemplative and alternative album of 2020. Folklore and Evermore.
Multiple videos purporting from the album have appeared on the internet.
The leaks first surfaced through social platforms Twitter as well as TikTok before being removed only for further rips of poor quality to be resurfaced.
Swift has been silent about the legitimacy sources.
One well-known Swift fan page on Facebook fanpage posted a message to its followers: “Apparently the entire album has been leaked, and is available on Twitter as well as TikTok. If you don’t want to reveal any spoilers, be sure to stay away from those sites.”
Swift fans – nicknamed “Swifties” – had mixed views on the leak of music.
“I honestly didn’t expect her at all to continue with Folklore/Evermore,” one fan said. “While I’d didn’t think she’d be in full folklore mode forget, I was hoping for the more mature sound to be the main with the pop secondary,” Another added.
“It’s the product from Lover, Reputation, 1989 and a little bit of Evermore. Pop for sure,” one fan quipped.
The song is a reference to US alt-pop artist Lana Del Rey as well as Haim’s sister trio’s appearance of the album a woman wrote: “I really don’t like how males can sing whole verses in Taylor songs and Haim and Lana had backing vocals.”
Swift revealed the news of her new album of Midnights in the MTV Video Music Awards in the latter part of August.
When she received an award for the best video year prize The performer used her speech of acceptance to introduce her album.
“I decided it could be fun to let you know that my new album will be released on 21 October. I’ll let you know more about it at 12 midnight.” the singer said.
Swift later stated that the album’s 13 tracks were “the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life”.
“This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams,” she wrote. “The floors we walk on and the demons we confront. For everyone who has lost our minds and has determined to keep the candles burning and search for them in the hope that maybe when the clock strikes 12 … it will be the time to see ourselves.”
In the days before the album’s the album’s release, Swift is dropping song names at midnight in the form of a TikTok series she dubbed Midnights Mayhem with Me.
Midnights could be one of the top 2022 albums.
