Haitian musician Michael Benjamin, better known as his stage name, Mikaben died on the 15th of October after suddenly falling off stage during his show on stage in Paris, France. He was 41 years old.
The cause of death hasn’t been determined, however numerous sources claim that Mikaben suffered an attack of the heart on stage. Mikaben Dies After Collapsing on Stage in Paris
Mikaben performed on the Accor Arena in front of 20,000 spectators at Paris to be a guest artist for Carimi. Haitian group Carimi. After the show, Mikaben passed out as when he left the stage. He was administered CPR however he was unable to be revived.
The Carimi vocalist Mickael Guirand then announced that the concert was finished. “End of the show. The room must be evacuated. It’s extremely complicated. We’ll need prayer for Mikaben,” he said. Then, social news influencer Carel Pedre, director of the Haitian Le Nouvelliste newspaper Frantz Duval confirmed the death of the singer via Twitter.
Mikaben was survived by his partner, Vanessa, who is due in December, his 1-year-old daughter and his father Lionel “Pere Noel” Benjamin who is an artist known for his Christmas tune Abdenwel.
Vanessa has posted a post on social media, thanking her fans for their support, while however, she is asking privacy. “I’m not in a position to speak. I lost my partner and am left without word,” she wrote.

When that news about Mikaben’s death was announced Twitter was overwhelmed with condolence messages and messages of respect in honor of the artist. “‘Ou Pati’ was the final song you performed at one of the largest stages on the planet to mark one of the famous events of Haitian musical history. You have left everything on the stage, and you left us with smiling on your face.” tweeted a fan.
Musician Roberto Martino also expressed his sadness and stated “I’m in disbelief.This was a person I’ve been working with for many years and was considered a brother, a great friend. We spoke almost every day. We chat almost every day.”
“He was so excited. He couldn’t wait to step on platform with the CaRiMi. It was among his most memorable achievements in his life. It’s a band was a hero to him. I’m struggling to find words. Mikaben began writing songs at the age of 15
Michael Benjamin was born in 1981. He began making music when he was 15 years old. He went to College and University in Montreal, Canada and worked on his music for the last years. Mikaben was considered to be one of the top musicians from Haiti and was able to sing in four different languages: French, Spanish, English and Creole.
He made his debut in 2004 when he created a band called Krezi Mizik together with David Dupoux, his uncle. David Dupoux, releasing two music albums. He later began to work alongside Carimi as well as T-Vice. Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti in 2010 Mokaben visited a variety of orphanages, hospitals and refugee camps with other musicians to sing for the victims.
